Event Overview
The Helping Hands Community Wellness Resource Fair is a collaborative campus and community initiative dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness with dignity, compassion, and respect. Hosted at San Diego State University, the event brings together hundreds of students, faculty, and community partners to provide essential services and resources in a setting intentionally designed to be welcoming, organized, and supportive. Services available at the 2026 fair include medical examinations, haircuts, identification assistance, clothing, a full meal service, lasting hydration support, and information on additional community resources outside of our fair.
More than a service event, this resource fair is an expression of collective care. It reflects the shared belief that institutions of higher education have both the opportunity and the responsibility to engage meaningfully with the communities around them. By opening campus space to this effort, SDSU affirms the value of compassionate service, civic responsibility, and human connection, while honoring the many students and faculty whose strong sense of compassion and responsibility has inspired them to stand beside and serve their community. The event is structured not only to meet practical needs, but also to ensure that every guest is received in an environment grounded in safety, empathy, and respect.
This event is made possible through the partnership of Helping Hands for Homelessness SDSU and a network of service-oriented organizations and volunteers who are committed to reducing barriers to care and expanding access to critical resources. The 2026 event is in partnership with the Vituity Cares Foundation, the Goodwill, the Lucky Duck Foundation, New Day Urban Ministries, the California Beauty and Barber School, the Project for Sanitation Justice, CrossRoads San Diego, and SDSU’s Sociology Club.
Through thoughtful planning, trauma-informed volunteer training, guest support systems, and coordinated services, the fair seeks to provide meaningful assistance while honoring the humanity and individuality of every person in attendance.
